Former Vancouver Giants captain Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk are staying with the Montreal Canadiens.

The 20-year-old Gallagher, who started his first pro season with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL, scored his first NHL goal Sunday against New Jersey.

The two rookies were informed by general manager Marc Bergevin and head coach Michel Therrien on Monday that, for now at least, they will not be sent back to their former clubs

Both Gallagher and Galchenyuk have looked sharp playing together on the team's third line with veteran Brandon Prust.
