The Vancouver Canucks announced today that they have re-signed defenceman Alex Edler to a six-year 30 million dollar deal.

Edler, 26, has played 386 career NHL games in a Canucks uniform recording 184 points (43-141-184) and 200 penalty minutes. The 6’3”, 215-pound defenceman has appeared in 55 playoff games for the Canucks scoring seven goals, 20 assists (7-20-27) and registering 34 penalty minutes.

In international play Edler has represented Sweden at the World Junior Championships and the World Championships. The Ostersund, Sweden native was selected 91^st overall by Vancouver in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
