Vancouver Whitecaps FC Striker Darren Mattocks has been named a finalist for MLS rookie of the year.
Mattocks, 22, was selected by the Caps second overall in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft and led the MLS in goals scored by a rookie with seven.
Mattocks was selected as well as Chicago Fire defender Alex Berry and D.C. United midfielder Nick DeLeon as finalists for the award, which was determined by votes from MLS players, technical staffs and front offices, as well as media members.
The Whitecaps became the first Canadian team to qualify for the MLS playoffs this season, just their second in the MLS.
