The Vancouver Giants have traded a big piece of their current team for the future as 19 year old defenseman David Musil has been moved to the Edmonton Oil Kings for 17 year old defender Mason Geertsen and Edmonton’s first round draft pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.
Musil was in his fourth season with the Giants and was a second round draft selection of the Edmonton Oilers (31st overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft. Geertsen is a 6’4” 205 pound defender and was in his second season with the Oil Kings.
Geertsen will report to the Giants right away and will be available for selection when the Giants face Medicine Hat on Thursday night.
