A colossal collapse on the international stage today for Canada’s national men’s soccer team, suffering a 8-1 away defeat to Honduras and losing out on a chance to move on in World Cup qualifying as a result.
Canada was embarrassed early and often in the Country’s biggest game in 15 years, looking disjointed in allowing Honduras to score 4 goals in the first half alone. The Canadians entered the game in second place in their group needing at worst a tie to advance to the final round of World Cup qualifying.
So the drought continues as Canada has not reached CONCACAF's final round since qualifying play for the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.
Honduras and Panama were the Countries to move on to the final round of qualifying in Group C.
