The Vancouver Whitecaps were given just what the doctor ordered…a team struggling worse than they were. The Caps took full advantage of a team in free fall, pumping in season high four goals and hammering Chivas USA 4-0 before a jubilant crowd of 17777 at BC Place.
Gershon Koffie, Dane Richards, Camilo and Barry Robson tallied for the Whitecaps in the victory, which never seemed in doubt after Koffie’s goal in the 11th minute set the tone for the evening.
Vancouver did lose another player to injury as Kenny Miller had to leave the game in minute 18 with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
With the win, the Caps have two games left on their schedule and now enjoy a five point lead over FC Dallas for the fifth and final playoff spot in the MLS Western Conference. It should be noted that FC Dallas will get Chivas USA twice more in their final three games, so while Vancouver enjoyes their lead over Dallas, they may still need results in their final two matches to secure a playoff berth.
Vancouver now has 18 days off before their regular season home finale versus their Cascadia Cup Rivals, the Portland Timbers.
