Vancouver's Filip Peliwo is a finalist for the 40th Canadian Sport Awards, the True Sport Foundation announced on Monday.
The 18-year-old is nominated for Junior Athlete of the Year with ski jumper Alexandra Pretorius and wrestler Dorothy Yeats.
The No. 1-ranked male junior tennis player in the world, Peliwo became the first player to reach all four junior Slam finals in one season since 1984. He won both Wimbledon and the US Open, while finishing as runner-up at the Australian Open and French Open. He is the first Canadian to rise to world No. 1 and the only Canadian to possess two junior Slam singles trophies.
The Canadian Sport Awards recognize the sporting achievements of Canada’s finest athletes in 2012.
The winners will be announced on October 17, 2012 in Calgary.
