Another bus driver has been assaulted on the Lower Mainland.

The attack happened Friday night in Coquitlam.

The female driver was grabbed by the throat and pulled out of her seat by one of the passengers.

Canadian Autoworkers Union local 111 President Don Macleod says even if a camera was on board, that would only be one part of what's needed to ensure drivers feel safe behind the wheel.

He says they're putting pressure on the federal government to change the laws, to ensure people who assault drivers get tougher sentences.

The Coast Mountain Bus Company is also working on a shield for drivers.
