Almost four months after the BC Supreme Court threw out polygamy charges against him, Bountiful leader Winston Blackmore is now suing the province for unlawful prosecution.
Former Attorney General Wally Oppal went through two special prosecutors before lawyer Terrance Robertson did advance polygamy charges against Winston Blackmore and another man.
In court documents, Blackmore claims Oppal wanted to create the illusion that the decision to prosecute Blackmore was Robertson's, but says Oppal only accepted Robertson's decision to prosecute because it was what Oppal wanted.
Blackmore claims the prosecution deprived him of his Charter liberties and he suffered business losses.
He is seeking damages and costs.
