The proposed closure of the Stanley Park Children's Farmyard has one philanthropist considering taking it over.

The Vancouver Park Board says it's necessary to balance its budget, but Dr. Yosef Wosk says they haven't responded to his offer to donate $100-thousand to keep it open, "Is it too small for them? Is it too insignificant? For whatever reason they don't see the value in it, but I know there are tens of thousands of people in the city who do see benefit, I know sponsors that we could get."

That has Wosk considering a coalition with other philanthropists and organizations to take over the farm yard and run it themselves.

He says interacting with those animals is an important part of farm education for city kids.
