The City of Vancouver is revealing more about a loan given to Park Board commissioner Constance Barnes so she could go into rehab.

Her stint at the Orchard Recovery Center on Bowen Island cost 18-thousand dollars.

Three thousand of that came in the form of a loan from the City of Vancouver. the city confirms it's part of the "disability management program" where all city employees with substance abuse problems are eligible for an assessment from a specialist.

A list is made of possible treatments and the employee has to select one of them to be eligible for the loan.

The city says the three-grand will be deducted from Barnes' pay-cheques.

Her next court appearance on drunk driving charges is September 3rd.
