Pro-Palestinian Rally draws Hundreds
VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980)

1/3/2009

Over 200 pro-Palestinian demonstrators braved the snow and cold in Downtown Vancouver Saturday afternoon to denounce the Israeli air strikes and ground movement into Gaza.

Protester Aiyanas Ormond says he's not convinced by Israel's argument its air strikes are in response to Hamas rocket attacks against civilians in southern Israel, "When you're denied the basic things that you need for a human existence, people are going to resort to desperate measures, like firing rockets.  But, we have to put it in proportion.  There are more than 400 Palestinians killed just in the last week or so, as opposed to less than 10 on the Israeli side."

Protesters then took to the streets and marched around the Art Gallery while Vancouver Police blocked roads.
