Canadian bronze medal figure skater Joannie Rochette has won the inaugural Terry Fox Award at the Vancouver Olympics.

Rochette, whose mother died suddenly in Vancouver last weekend, was given the award for showing determination and humility in the face of obstacles - the same values Marathon of Hope runner Terry Fox embodied.

Rochette shares the award with Slovenian cross-country skier and bronze medallist, Petra Majdic.
