FROM VSB LAYOFFS TO GROWING OPPOSITION TO KINDER MORGAN
The Vancouver School Board is laying off 227 teachers as it continues to grapple with declining enrolment. The VSB says they are hopeful most of the affected teachers will be hired back in the coming year. Meanwhile, North Vancouver School District is likely to face stiff opposition to a proposal that could involve selling off 11 school district owner properties that are no longer needed. Is this a sign of the times? And we all know by now that Mayor Robertson is strongly opposed to the Kinder Morgan expansion proposal – what’s the alternative? Is the mayor being realistic?
