RCMP have arrested a Thompson man in connection with a homicide Saturday...
An Thompson resident was walking his dog when the animal began following a trail of blood along a wooded path.
RCMP later picked up the trail, which led them to the body of 25 year old David Riley Cook of The Pas.
24-year-old Cary Spence is charged with second-degree degree murder. Spence will appear in court Monday.

Investigators are trying to determine if charges will be laid after an assault with a machete at a home in Winnipeg this weekend.
Officers and the Crown's office are in discussions about the incident that occurred Saturday at 2:15 pm outside of a home in the 300 block of Good Street.
A 30 year old man living at the home cut the possible intruder, after the 21 year old suspect seemed to be trying to enter the house and was aggressive to him.
The 21 year old man was sent to hospital in stable condition.

Plans for the recovery of an ice cutting machine that sank to the bottom of the Red River on Saturday have been halted.
Operations Manager for North Red Waterway Maintenance, Darrel Kupchik tells CJOB that the recovery will NOT happen today.
Kupchik says that they risk damaging the 130-thousand dollar machine further if they try to retrieve the unit with broken ice on the River.
He says that they will attempt to recover the machine once the ice moves off the Red.

You can join Olympic gold medal-winner Jon Montgomery in his hometown of Russell for a huge community celebration today.
Perry Bulbuck is chairperson for "Montgomery Gold - Mission Accomplished". He tells CJOB's Greg Mackling.. a massive parade is expected to start at 1:30 pm, with a BBQ for thousands starting at 4 pm...
Montgomery arrived home Friday.

A 16-year-old Little Grand Rapids First Nation girl is charged with second degree murder in connection with a homicide on the reserve late last Thursday night.
The male victim, 22-year-old Chris Owens of Little Grand Rapids First Nation, died from a stab wound to the chest.
The suspect and victim were known to each other. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
The suspect remains in custody. She'll appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on Monday.

Winnipeg Police are investigating a stabbing incident Saturday morning.
At around 7:40 am officers were called to the 500 block of Langside Street.
Police say that a 21 year old woman and a 22 year old man were stabbed. The woman has been released from hospital and the man is in stable condition.
The Division 11 Crime Unit is investigating and there is no other information at this time.

Winnipeg police had areas of Colony Street and Portage Avenue taped off Saturday afternoon investigating an incident of assault with a weapon.
Police tell CJOB that there are indications that the weapon used in the assault was a machete.
One man is in hospital as a result of the incident, his condition is unknown.
Police were on scene for about 3 hours, between 2:15pm and 5:15pm Saturday.
There are no other details at this time.

One of the machines cutting up ice on the Red River broke through Saturday morning and sank to the bottom.
Around 7:30 am, the remote control skid steer broke through about 100 yards upstream of the Selkirk lift bridge.
The Operations Manger for North Red Waterway Maintenance Darrell Kupchik tells CJOB this is the first time a machine has gone through the ice. Fortunately.. it's a remote controlled machine:
Kupchik says the above normal temperatures may have been a factor. He says they should be able to salvage the 130-thousand dollar unit.
According to Kupchik, the ice cutting season ends on the Red....once water starts flowing in the ditches. He says the runoff makes its way to the river, and lifts the ice.

Police are investigating reports of a suspicious person in the Weston area of the city this weekend.
Saturday at around 1pm an 11 year old boy was walking in the area when he was confronted by an unknown male. The suspect fled the scene after grabbing the victim, who pulled away. The suspect was seen getting into a car with an unknown woman.
The car is described as an older model, dark-coloured truck. The suspects are described as a male in his, about 5-foot-10 inches tall and thin with dirty blond shoulder length hair. He was wearing a light brown jacket and dark jeans. The woman in the car is described as aboriginal in appearance, with dark hair and she was seen wearing a white head band and white jacket.
The victim suffered no injuries.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6245.
