CJOB News Team reporting
Winnipeg police have closed off the intersection of Portage Avenue and Berry Street following a two car crash Sunday Morning.
Kyle Trevors was one of the witnesses at the scene and says it appeared that a white SUV was travelling at a high rate of speed down Portage Avenue, when it rear-ended a car that was stopped at a red light, before careening over the median.
"From where we were located we didn't hear any screaching or anything so we imagine he hit it direct and he must of been going pretty fast," says Trevors adding "the other car hit the pole flipped on to its side. There was a big commotion and we just called 911 immeidiatly and went over".
Trevors said the SUV went on to hit the Kings Skate and Snowboard clearance store, and the car the was struck in the intersection flipped over.
Trevors said the man that was in the car that flipped had to be freed using the jaws of life. Several others were injured in the crash, there is no word on their conditions at this time.
