The School of Dental Hygiene within the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba has confirmed Carla Zamrykut of the Class of 2012 is a double medal winner this year, including the prestigious Governor General’s Medal. She will receive the Governor General Bronze Medal for highest standing in a two year diploma program for dental hygiene, art and aboriginal focus at the University of Manitoba. It was one of only four awarded to University of Manitoba students for this graduation year.
The Governor General’s Academic Medal is one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution can receive.
And the Medal is one of a total of six awards captured by the member of the Dental Hygiene Class of 2012. Zamrykut will also receive the medal in Dental Hygiene and the MDA Gold Medal, among other scholastic prizes. Kevin Vint earned the University Gold Medal in Dentistry in addition to seven other academic awards including graduation with honours and a place on the Dean’s Honour Roll in 2012. He'll be joined by 15 classmates on the Dean’s Honour Roll list. The Class of 2012 features 36 DMD graduates, in addition to nine who have earned their Bachelor of Science degree in dentistry, known as the BSc (Dent). The convocation ceremonies at Fort Garry Campus are Thursday afternoon.
