Manitoba's Mental Health Court is officially open.
Crown attorney Susan Helenchilde tells CJOB the court heard its first two cases this morning with two men pleading guilty to crimes and entering the program.
The court initially planned to take only those who committed non-violent crimes but both men admitted today committed assaults.
Helenchilde says the men are allowed in because the crown decided there were no serious injuries.
The court cost 600 thousand dollars and will run once a week.
