Bad quarter for Air Canada, but some good news
CJOB News Team reporting
5/4/2012

A bad first quarter for Air Canada - the airline's first-quarter loss was 11 times higher this year than in 2011.

Air Canada's net loss for January to March was 210 million dollars - 55 million was attributed to the shut down of Aveos.

But, Barry Prentice from the University of Manitoba's Asper School of Business tells CJOB some of the other numbers tell a better story.

The Montreal company had to weather higher fuel prices, work stoppages by some of its employees and the bankruptcy of Aveos, the company that formerly overhauled its planes.
