With another long weekend quickly approaching, the OPP will be out in full force ensuring safety on the roads and waterways.
Officers will be parked along provincially patrolled highways, as well as flying high in the air, making sure drivers are following speed limits, and not busying themselves with gadgets.
According to the OPP Highway Safety Division, road fatalities are up nearly 25 per cent this year, with 202 persons having died in motor vehicle collisions as of July 29, compared to 162 fatalities this same time last year.
Meanwhile, enhanced presence will also be seen across lakes and open water areas.
Five people have died so far this summer in boating incidents, where a PFD would have made a difference.
