Dog Rescue Turns Into A Pooch Chase

6/21/2012

A very dramatic series of events, Thursday afternoon - captured on live T.V.

It wasn't a collision but a dog who held up traffic on the Gardiner Expressway.

A pooch was discovered inside a steamy car at a grocery store parking lot on Queen's Quay.

When officers came to its rescue, the dog bolted onto the busy highway.

It is expected to survive but Police say this isn't the first call they've received this week about the discovery of dogs in hot vehicles.

Constable Wendy Drummond says there's been 153 animal complaint calls and 61 of them had to be attended by an officer.

This all happened in the middle of what Environment Canada used to call a "heatwave."
