City councillors have given the green light to a $65,000 pilot project to set up 5 charging stations for electric vehicles.
The one year test case is meant to be a knowledge building exercise to study the feasibility of charging stations.
There are close to 400 electric cars in the province but city staff aren't sure how many of those are in Toronto and there are more than 40 electric vehicle models expected to be on the market by 2015.
The proposed charging stations are behind City Hall, in the King Street West theatre district, On Wellington Street and south of Yonge-Dundas square and every boost will be free.
