The chair of the OLG says he's like to see a casino on the Toronto waterfront and wants councillors to check the facts before dismissing the idea.
Paul Godfrey says he prefers a site on the waterfornt because other sites wouldn't attract as much interest from international casino operators or the same level of investment.
The idea of a Toronto casino at Ontario Place has divided council.
The mayor and a number of suburban councillors endorse the idea under the right conditions but a few downtown councillors are cold to the idea.
Two councillors already have anti-casino motions before the mayor’s executive committee. Councillors Michael Layton and Adam Vaughan are both against the plan and would like to see a referendum on the idea.
