Hamilton's fire department has issued an immediate ban on all open air burning in the city.
Officials are pointing to the current dry weather conditions and no rain in the near future.
The ban also suspends all previously approved open air burning permits.
Residents are being asked to refrain from using outdoor flame producing devices such as natural gas flame logs or propane-fuelled fireplaces, patio torches and outdoor candles until further notice. And smokers are reminded to make sure to completely extinguish their cigarette butts before discarding them.
