Canada's flagbearer at the London Olympics is triathlete Simon Whitfield.
The announcement was made this morning on Parliament Hill.
Whitfield won gold for Canada at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and captured a silver at the 2008 Beijing Games.
The 37-year-old Kingston native also won gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in England.
Other athletes thought to be under consideration included veteran show jumper Ian Millar, diver Alexandre Despatie and cyclist Clara Hughes.
Hughes had the honour at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics where she competed in speedskating.
Kayaker Adam van Koeverden carried Canada's flag in the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The opening ceremonies of the London Olympics will be held July 27th.
