The Ontario Fire Marshall Office begins its investigation today into a Stoney Creek house fire yesterday afternoon that could be seen for miles.
It started about 1 yesterday afternoon with a thick plume of black smoke rising over the waterfront home under construction on Watercrest Drive.
The smoke was seen as far away as Oakville.
Hamilton Fire Department spokesman Dave Christopher says there were work crews in the home at the time.
So far, the cause has not been determined, but the home is believed to be worth about two million dollars.
