Statistics Canada blames lower sales of new vehicles for the decline in retail sales.

The agency says sales were down by 0.4 per cent country-wide in June with Alberta reporting the largest decline in dollar terms of all the provinces.

But compared to last year, Alberta retail sales are up by 6.6 per cent, which is the highest annual growth rate in the country. (ks)
