Edmonton is among the most census metropolitan city’s that saw a large decrease in building permit values for the month of June.
Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver saw the largest declines, due to decreased development intentions by construction firms.
The total value of building permits is also down in seven provinces, with Alberta and B.C seeing the largest decrease in non-residential and residential sectors.
Stats Canada says, the total value of building permits fell 2.5% to $6.8 billion in June, following a 7.1% increase in May. (bu)
