Residents in Grande Prairie had an unexpected guest roaming around their city this afternoon.
Cpl. Roy Kennedy from the RCMP told 630 CHED News that while it isn't unusual to see wildlife within the city limits, Fish and Wildlife became concerned this time, “there were reports that it behaved somewhat aggressively and it wouldn't leave and it wouldn’t tree up. Which [means] it basically wouldn’t take refuge up the tree. So, in the concern of public safety, officers decided to euthanize the bear.”
Cpl. Kennedy says that they don't know for sure the age of the bear but officers did say it looked young. Investigators are also trying to determine why the bear entered the area.(tk/td)
