Lotto 6/49 is celebrating its 30th anniversary this week and the numbers are staggering.
Almost three thousand draws since the first draw on June 12, 1982 and overall sales are estimated at 52-Billion dollars. About 25-Billion has been shared by 915-million Lotto 6/49 winners. That includes more than 32-hundred people who "hit the jackpot".
Robert Ayotte with the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation says the success of Lotto 6/49 has been spectacular with almost every Canadian buying a ticket at one time or another. He says winner have come from all over the country, from the smallest to the largest communities. Ayotte says the highest prize ever...54.3-million dollars...was shared by seventeen Alberta workers in 2005.
