Edmonton police have charged a youth from Saskatchewan in a random murder from 2011.
John Kwiatkowski, 29, was found dead in his east Edmonton home on April 14, 2011. Detective Colin Derksen says they made an arrest earlier this week.
"Monday, May 21st, we arrested an individual in Saskatchewan. He's charged with second degree murder, and break and enter with intent to committ an indictable offence."
He adds, although at one point police thought more people may have been involved, the investigation is now closed.
"(Police) are satisfied that the person we've charged is responsible for causing John's death, and we're not pursuing any other suspects at this time."
The youth was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant at the time of Kwiatkowski's death. He had escaped from a youth correctional facility in Saskatchewan. Police say he's now doing time in Saskatchewan on an unrelated conviction.
