Damage is extensive after a fire early Thursday in a commercial building in south Edmonton.
The alarm to 5855 - 99th street came in at 4:30am. Soon smoke was pouring out of windows and doors broken by firefighters to gain access to the source of the fire and to ventilate the building. It took an hour to bring the fire under control...and a little longer to put it out.
At first it appeared the single storey concrete block walled building housed a glass replacement company but there are reports the business no longer operated there. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
