A little girl...barely old enough to walk on her own...has died after a tragic accident in a Mill Woods parking lot.
It's the kind of thing that can bring a tear to the eye of a seasoned police officer or paramedic. The girl, around fourteen months old, was walking with her mother in the parking lot of a condo complex near 69th Street and 15th Avenue around six last night. For reasons unknown, the toddler darted into the path of an approaching SUV and was struck. She died later in hospital.
Police say because the child was so tiny and moved so quickly, the distraught driver of the SUV didn't have a chance to see her in time to stop. Alcohol and Speed were not involved and it is unlikely charges will be laid in Edmonton 15th traffic death of the year.
