When Premier Redford rolls out her first signature cabinet at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, there will be an interesting blend of new faces and some veterans who will remain in key portfolios.

Redford's cabinet must please most of the people most of the time with a proper mix of Edmonton and Calgary, along with gender, ethnicity and rural. The buzz is there will be some interesting moves involving newcomers but most key portfolios are expected to be untouched.

The Journal reports Fred Horne will stay as Health minister, Dave Hancock hangs onto Human Services and Doug Horner's duties expand to include Treasury and Finance. Horner's situation clears the way for something out of the Tory blue. Word is Thomas Lukaszuk is to be named Deputy Premier without portfolio...leaving the hot potato of Education to someone else...probably Athabasca-Sturgeon-Redwater MLA Jeff Johnson.

Other sources say Ken Hughes, the former head of Alberta Health Services Board, gets Energy and Ric McIver takes over Transportation. The Cabinet swearing in will take place at Government House.
