Police want to warn you a violent offender is being released back into the general public from the Edmonton Institution.

Brent Michael Crane, 29, has completed his 34-month sentence after being convicted of four counts of robbery and theft not exceeding 5-thousand dollars.

EPS are issuing the warning because they believe Cranes is a violent offender who poses a risk to the community to re-offend.

In the eyes of EPS, public safety concerns out-weighed the privacy concerns related to releasing his name and photo.

Crane will be living in the city and will be closely watched by the EPS Behavioural Assessment Unit.

Police say the identity release is simple to prepare the public, they do not encourage any vigilante action to be taken against Crane. (twd)
