Alberta's highest court is being asked to hear the appeal of one of Edmonton's most notorious killers.
The Alberta Court of Appeal has received paperwork from Michael Briscoe, as he attempts to appeal his convictins of first degree murder in the April 3, 2005, death of Nina Courtepatte.
Briscoe claims the judge made a mistake by not recognizing his statements made to police after Courtepatte's body was found, as a violation of his rights.
Briscoe is serving a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years. He was part of a group of people that lured Courtepatte away from West Edmonton Mall, before taking her to a golf course west of Edmonton and raping and killing her. (lk)
