It sounds like a night on the town has turned deadly for a Leduc man in Cancun, Mexico.
Several Mexican newspapers are reporting that Mark Michael Hayduk, 23, drowned in front of the Hotel Grand Oasis early on Thursday morning, after being advised not to go into the sea.
The reports say Hayduk had been out for a night on the town with some other tourists, and a group of them headed to the beach when they returned to their resort at about 1:30am. One report says the group was told by security guards not to enter the water, but they did anyway, and Hayduk soon got caught up in the strong waves. He wasn't seen again until his body washed up on shore.
An autopsy has reportedly been scheduled. Local media say Hayduk checked into the resort last Friday and was scheduled to stay for one week. (jk, ks)
