Pastor among the dead in highway crash
EDMONTON/630 CHED
4/28/2012

A pastor with a Pentecostal church and two members of his family are among the seven victims of Friday's two vehicle crash in northern Alberta.

Reverend Edwin Rideout of Family Christian Centre says Shannon Wheaton, his wife Trena, and their youngest son, Benjamin, all died in the crash between Edmonton and Fort McMurray.

Rideout says the couple's oldest son, three-year-old Timothy survived with minor injuries.

Rideout says Wheaton was one of the most gentle and generous individuals he has ever known.

R-C-M-P have not confirmed the identities of any of the seven victims.

Police say the crash happened on Highway 63 near Wandering River.

A pickup tried to pass another vehicle on the two-lane highway and collided with a second pickup.

A 28-year-old man was also injured and police say he's in serious condition in hospital. (The Canadian Press)
