With their backs against the wall, the Moose Jaw Warriors pulled out a season-saving win on home ice in the WHL's Eastern Conference Final on Wednesday night, beating the Edmonton Oil Kings 5-1 at Mosaic Place.

Kenton Miller scored twice and Justin Paulic made 28 saves as the Warriors managed to avoid being swept by the Oil Kings, who were perfect up to that point in the WHL playoffs and were riding a 22-game win streak. Brayden Point, Cam Braes and James Henry also scored for the Warriors, while Tyler Maxwell's third of the playoffs was the lone goal for Edmonton.

Point opened the scoring on the power play at 5:59 of the first period, with Mitchell Moroz watching from the penalty box and it would be 3-0 at the break thanks to goals from Braes and Miller. The last of those goals came with just two seconds left in the opening frame. Tyler Maxwell got Edmonton on the board at the 8:28 mark of the second, after Miller made it a four goal game a couple of minutes earlier, but that is as close as the Oil Kings would get on the night.

Henry scored into the empty net to seal the deal for Moose Jaw. Laurent Brossoit gave up four goals on 33 shots for Edmonton in the loss.

The series now shifts back to Edmonton for game five on Friday night at Rexall Place. (jk)
