The recent deaths in Calgary, because of ecstasy, prompted Alberta Health Services to use social media to answer a number of questions and provide resources for people concerned the illegal drug. For an hour on Friday, health officials were on twitter taking questions and providing answers about drug use. They stated that students tend to try drugs at so called high risk times, which is when they are unsupervised between 3 and 6 in the afternoon. Health officials wanted to stress that this isn't a case of a bad batch of ecstasy, adding that there is no safe dose of any illegal street drug and that while a number of recent deaths are linked to the chemical PMMA, there have been deaths from MDMA for years, the chemical normally used to make ecstasy.

More than 100 million people will get a glimpse of the breathtaking and majestic scenery that Albertans often take for granted as it features prominently in one of Sunday's much-anticipated SuperBowl ads. The 60 second commercial for a Suzuki car shows sled dogs bobbing their heads to the beat of a Hip Hop song, while cruising across the snow inside the vehicle. The ad was shot on the frozen snow-covered surface of Spray Lakes near Canmore. Andrew Nickerson from Canmore Tourism says it's phenomenal exposure for the Rocky Mountain community, although he admits it does little to counter the perception that Canada is a frozen wasteland and that we live in igloos. He says they'll be using Facebook and Twitter to let people know that the ad was not shot in the Arctic and to show them what the area looks like in summer. You can view the ad at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCGikHT6gKQ
