An unexpected discovery when police and fire crews responded to a boater in distress call yesterday on the Bow river. They found the body of a man in his 40's in the water near the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. It turns out the two calls were unrelated, and there was no other person in distress. Police are now waiting for the medical examiner to identify the body. They say the man's death does not appear suspicious and it looks like he'd been in the water for some time.
Meanwhile, the Calgary Fire Dept. is reminding Calgarians that it's still unsafe to be boating or rafting on the Bow and Elbow rivers. Fire officials are re-iterating their river advisory , warning of an increase in water being released from the dam upstream of Calgary.
