Class-action lawsuit launched in Red Deer River oil spill

A well-known Regina lawyer says if you carry a product that can do environmental damage, you are responsible for that damage. Tony Merchant is filing a multi-million dollar class-action lawsuit against Plains Midstream Canada following the oil pipeline leak into the Red Deer River two weeks ago. And Merchant says he's confident he'll win damages for his clients.
In the statement of claim, Merchant says Plains Midstream was negligent and "willfully and knowingly" violated safety standards when 3 thousand barrels of oil leaked out of it's pipeline near Sundre...
Merchant says anyone who's property was affected by this spill can take part in the class-action suit. The lawsuit is seeking 85-million dollars in damages.
