Gas price hike puts squeeze on families

Under the cover of darkness, many major brand gas stations across the city have pumped up their posted price to 116.9.
That's a seven cent a litre increase which will add $3.50 to a fifty litre fill up, and that could have a big impact on family plans this summer.
QR Business expert Dave Popowich says this hike puts the squeeze on families, "The more we have to contribute to filling the tank, the less we have to spend on other things, whether that's on a vacation or discretionary spending around the house, or going out for dinner and so on and so forth." Popowich says the price hike affects the whole economy, because there's less money circulating as people tighten up their wallets.
