A local family is benefitting from the donation of a life-saving device by Calgary EMS. 12-year-old Quinn Baak would faint or fall down stairs and until a DNA test late last year, his family didn't know why he was having problems. What was found is that he suffers from Long QT Syndrome, which causes heart irregularities or, in extreme cases, the heart can stop. The EMS Foundation is donating a defibrillator to Quinn's family. The family can now be ready to deal with any of episodes that can actually be triggered by something as innocuous as a fire alarm or alarm clock going off.
