The premier and the federal natural resources minister say the discussion over the oil sands and Canada's energy strategy will be on-going.
Alison Redford and Joe Oliver reacted this morning to a new survey showing Canadians almost evenly split on whether they support comments critical of the oil sands made by NDP leader Thomas Mulcair. Redford says the survey suggests Alberta must continue to press its case, "I don't think that it's ever going to be a discussion that we stop having, but it does have to be an informed discussion that has to take into account what's going on globally.  It has to take into account where we are in Canada and the international economy and international environment.  And that is what is going to allow us to have a reasonable conversation."
Mulcair says Alberta's energy industry has inflated the value of the Canadian dollar hurting the manufacturing sector in central Canada. Oliver reiterated his feeling that the comments are divisive.
