The mayor is the latest to join in the chorus of those seeking an audit on the West LRT project however he doesn't expect any skeletons or missing bags of money will be found in the closet.
Naheed Nenshi says people have to consider the size of the capital budget of over one billion dollars and that the project is only 2 to 3 per cent off budget. He says a lot of it can be attributed to changes made in the scope of the project such as using contingency money for the trenching on 17th avenue and the alignment coming out of the downtown, "It's a big project so of course we should have an audit. But let's be clear there's no mystery here that we need to hire investigators to figure out where the money went."
The West LRT is the single biggest capital project the city has ever undertaken.
