Walk for victims of crime rolls into Calgary
_News Talk 770
5/7/2012

A cross-Canada walk in support of victims of crime rolled into Calgary this morning.  Hundreds of students joined the five young men for the first part of "Freedom Walk" at Forest Lawn High School.  The procession then made its way down 17th Avenue Southeast and ended at Elliston Park.  The Freedom Walk Team includes two off-duty Calgary police officers, including Constable Travis Juska, who says the goal is not only awareness but empowerment for victims of crime.  He says many victims don't feel comfortable coming forward because they don't know if the proper supports are in place.  The group is also raising money to support the Canadian Crime Victim Foundation.  You can see more information on the walk at http://www.freedomwalk.ca.
