Investigation continues into violent incidents

Calgary police continue to investigate two violent incidents late Thursday night and early Friday morning. In the first, residents were awakened by three Caucasian men who forced their way into a home in the Monterey Park community in NE Calgary just before midnight. The unknown men demanded cash and threatened to kill the residents. One of the people in the home, a man in his late 60's was taken to hospital in serious condition, but is expected to be okay. Police are still investigating the type of weapon involved. Residents of the home were not known to them but the incident is not believed to be random.

Meanwhile police are looking at whether an argument inside a downtown bar led to a stabbing outside the Roadhouse just after 2 AM. Two men in their mid-20's were stabbed by an Asian male on the sidewalk outside the bar in the 800 block of 9th Avenue SW. The suspect then fled in a  black car.  One of the victims was treated and released, the other remains in serious but stable condition. Police are looking for witnesses who the stabbing or the earlier altercation inside the bar.
