Council being asked to approve more accessible taxi's

The city is being asked to approve an extra 55 accessible taxi's to bring the number to 11% of the total fleet.
A frequent user is pleased with the increase but wants a measure of accountability put in.
Jack Smart is on the advisory committee for accessibility.
He says too often he calls for a cab and has to wait 30 to 40 minutes and sometimes the ride never comes.
Smart says effectively managing the existing fleet will be needed to have greater impact on overall service.
He says there needs to be a system of accountability where drivers who hold accessible taxi licenses face consequences for refusing to take accessible trips.
