Dear Professor Toope:

Thank you for meeting with the CIS senior leadership team on March 14, 2011.
We appreciated the opportunity to express in person how important UBC is to CIS, to report on the progress to move the yard-sticks forward on areas of concern that UBC put on the table in October 2008, and to provide context and clarifications for some of the conclusions included in the January 2011 "UBC Vancouver Campus and NCAA Division II Membership: A Review of the Issues" paper. CIS-UBC President summit leaves all sides in limbo

The summit between UBC's President Stephen Toope and a three member CIS team was a "...cordial, professional meeting with some frank discussion," according to CIS CEO Marg McGregor.

It sounds like Toope cut to the chase about any progress the CIS has made on tiering and athletic awards.
 
The CIS outlined what progress had been made in regard to the "like minded" split conference concept and the President's council who will oversee any expansion of financial awards.

The UBC Athletics document inaccurately represented the CIS position that they were ambivalent to UBC's departure from the association. They expressed their sincerest concerns about a potential UBC departure.

"If we did leave that impression (of ambivalence), it clearly was not our intent and UBC clearly understands that now," McGregor said.
